Turmoil and Clichés

All the clichés about life lessons come from well-meaning folks. Yet when you are in turmoil rarely can those clichés alleviate any part of the turmoil. Nothing much can. It is after the crisis, when the dust settles, and we absorb the lessons that the cliché makes perfect sense. Turmoil might be outside of our control and wield such power over our every waking and sleeping moments. We can become fatigued and raw. All the pain, the heartache surfaces, and blends into a blur. I often wonder why some people get more than a fair share of turmoil and others seem to coast along in life. An unanswerable question from a collective perspective yet answered individual to individual.

Survivors of over-doses of turmoil are perfectly imperfect and beautifully broken. Unique beings, given burdens for unknown reasons. We rise from the dust and offer our hand out to whoever is in need because we know, we just know. The solitude when no hand reaches to offer you a hand can be overcome when we set out to seek those hands that help.

Live one day at a time, knowing the past is just a memory and the future is a dream yet to be realized. Here and now is what matters. Like the pull of a wave and turning of tides – it feels sublime to immerse into the black night sea.

  1. Words of the wise! So true. I think about this often but have never put it into words. This is absolutely perfect. 🖤
